Today Audi officially announced the new 3.0 TFSI engine, a new high-tech V6 combing Audi's latest state-of-the-art technologies – gasoline direct injection and supercharging, which indicates that the “T” in Audi's engine designation can no longer be solely associated with turbocharged versions. The new unit pumps out 290hp (213 kW) and a quite impressive 420Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque. Thrust of the compact supercharger, which sits inside the 90-degree V of the cylinder banks in place of the intake manifold, is available from idle speeds because it is belt driven, thus, enabling the unit to produce its maximum 420Nm of torque at just 2500rpm. We can expect to see figures well under 10 liters per 100km (23.52 mpg) although final figures will vary depending on which model it is deployed in. Audi is yet to confirm which models are likely to get the new 3.0 TFSI unit, but in line with the leaked engine offensive document we expect it to make its debut in the Audi A6 Facelift which will released later this year and we should also see a tuned version make its way into the new S4 replacing its current 350hp V8 unit. P.S. BMW 3,0 R6 Twin Turbo мощнее и экономичнее
Re: Audi Officially Announce New 3.0 TFSI Supercharged Engin а если ещо вспомнить сколь хорошие у ауди V-образные двигатели...
Re: Audi Officially Announce New 3.0 TFSI Supercharged Engin Бледь дебилы, накуй было изобретать велосипед заново? Обычный 5-cil аудивскый двигун 2.2T выдаёт 295Hp..Seprcharged мать вашу
"Hmmm, was never a fan of supercharging and what I read till now doesn't convince me otherwise either. BMW N54B30 while making a little less torque has a way better torque curve - 400 Nm between 1300-5000 rpm vs 420 Nm between 2,500 and 4,850 rpm. And I thought the advantage of supercharging vs turbo charging was better torque at lower rpm. Guess not at least in this case. N54 also makes 10 more HP though I am sure both engines have way more in reserve, but N54 is running half the boost (4bar vs 8 ) so it probably has more to gain from tuning. N54 also revs higher - 7000 rpm vs 6500 rpm and BMW also claims higher efficiency for the N54 powered cars (26mpg for RWD models and 25 for AWD) vs the 23.5 Audi is claiming. So, in summary, I still don't get what Audi gained by resorting to supercharging over turbo charging."
д. =================== AudiWorld has revealed that the newest B8 iteration of the S4 will return the car to turbos once again when it debuts with a biturbo 3.0L TFSI direct-inject engine producing 330 horsepower. This is significant news for a couple of reasons. For one, as AudiWorld points out, the new S4 will be far more receptive to modification than the last two generations with their naturally-aspirated V8s. Presumably it will also be more frugal with fuel than the 4.2L V8-powered S4s before it while producing almost as much power. Finally, the S4's 340 horsepower will best the BMW 335i with its 3.0L twin-turbo inline-six by some 30 horsepower. It's a small victory, but we're sure Audi will take it. Along with high-po powerplant, the B8 S4 is also expected to get Audi's vectoring quattro system that can dynamically send the twist to any wheel it wants. The previous active sport differential system could only split torque between the rear wheels. AudiWorld also reports that the new S4 will go on sale in the U.S. in late 2008, the same time as the A4. This means we should expect the S4 to debut at either the Detroit Auto Show in January or the Geneva Motor Show in March.
